Torstai 16.10.
Tänään teimme valokokeilun, jossa Sarin sanoin kaikki meni huonosti. Läpimeno määritti käänteisesti valodramaturgian keskeiset kiinnekohdat. Musiikin osalta pohjakokeilu tehtiin eilen illalla rakenne on valmis, vain strippien saumat on siistimättä. Katselimme läpimenon videolta keskustellen ja määrittelimme kokonaisuuden eri osien pyrkimyksiä. Nyt meillä kaikilla on omat sääntömme, joita esitystilanteessa varioimme "fiiliksen mukaan".
Tänään sain vihdoin ensimmäiset kommentit Helenalta yhteisen viikonlopun jälkeen. Vaikka kommentit tulivat viime metreillä, uskon että niillä on ratkaiseva merkitys soolon hienosäädölle. Olen helpottunut. Helena näki alkuvaiheen peruspalikat ja pystyi nyt hienosti johtamaan kaaren pyrkimyksistäni siihen, mitä muutaman päivän takaisesta videoinnista välittyi hänelle tänään. Huomenna jatkamme vielä dialogia ennen esitystä. Soolo on nyt näitä hienoisia, mutta merkittäviä koreografisia kirkastuksia vaille esityskunnossa. Tässä teoksessa kokonaisestetiikka on avain sisältöön, ja haasteiden asettaminen on oleellista.

Today I finally got first comments from Helena. Even though I got them this late, the choreography is enough open in its shape that I can take them into consideration. Mostly Helena commented on the dynamics on certain movement sequences and the lengths of the repeated parts - and keeping up with my first intentions. We´ll even continue our dialogue tomorrow.
Today´s rehearsal was a runthrough where Sari tried different things than yesterday. Sari, Matias and I watched the video and made many decisions and rules for every one of us concerning the structure and how to keep the intensity growing until the end. The piece is almost ready. I still want to do some choreographic crystallization before the performance. I hope to convey my basic ideas and manage to do it through the shape.

Tein soolon tänään kaksi kertaa läpi. Aamun läpimenossa kokeilimme musiikkijärjestyksen vaihtelua ja uutta valotilanteiden järjestystä. Illan läpimenon katsoi kevään teoksen valosuunnittelija Tero Koivisto. Molemmat päivän läpimenot olivat melko väsyneitä omalta osaltani, mutta veivät teoksen kokonaisuutta hienosti eteenpäin.
Hi8 -nauha on yhä matkalla Helenalle ja odotan kiihkeästi hänen kommenttejaan mentoriviikonlopun jälkeisistä valinnoista ja valitsemastani lähestymistavasta yleisöön ja kokonaisuuteen.
I did two runthroughs today. In the morning we tried the changing order of music strips and a new order for the lighting situations. My co-worker for next spring, the lighting designer student Tero Koivisto, came to see the evening runthrough. For my part, both of them were a bit tired and not sharp enough for my taste. But the entity and small details of the piece went forward a lot.
Hi8 -tape is still on its way to Sweden to Helena. I´m so eager to hear her comments on the choices and approaches that I have made since the mentoring weekend three weeks ago.
